What is the Sacramento County Nutrition Action Plan (CNAP) Collaborative?
The Sacramento CNAP Collaborative is a group of public, private, and non-profit organizations that work on nutrition and physical activity issues in Sacramento County. We have come together to develop and implement a plan to improve collaboration among participating groups.
What is the goal of the Sacramento CNAP Collaborative?
Through active collaboration, agencies will work together to improve access, awareness, and utilization of culturally appropriate healthy eating/active living resources for Sacramento County residents.
How will the collaboration plan be developed and implemented?
The purpose of the CNAP collaborative is for participating programs to develop and implement a plan on how local programs can work together on local nutrition and physical activity issues. The plan is not meant to create additional work for any group, but rather it is meant to allow participating groups to work more efficiently together.
A written three-year plan is being developed in a collaborative process. Discussion and planning takes place through small group activities at monthly meetings. Once the plan is developed, the collaborative will move to quarterly meetings. The purpose of these quarterly meetings will be to provide a forum to: 1) share resources and learn about each other's efforts to improve the nutrition and physical activity of Sacramento County residents; 2) work on common activities, and 3) implement the group's plan.
What is the timeline for the development and implementation of the collaboration plan?
A written three-year CNAP plan will be developed by October 2013. The plan will be implemented from October 2013-September 2016.
What issues will be addressed by the collaboration plan?
Who should attend CNAP meetings?
Anyone with an interest in nutrition and physical activity issues is encouraged to attend. This includes individuals/agencies who work in agriculture, business, community health, community development, education, food service, food assistance, food distribution, health care, and more. Participating groups do not need to currently provide nutrition or physical activity services - all are welcome!
